We’ve recently completed a unique contemporary kitchen design for a client in Killiney, Co. Dublin that features design inspiration from our popular Contemporary Collection. Below we discuss the different aspects of this kitchen design in more detail.
Ergonomics in Contemporary Kitchen Design
The kitchen is a central living space in any home. Our challenge is to work with an existing space to make it ergonomically sound and this design was very successful in creating a very open feel to as opposed to a traditional L-shape counter based kitchen.
In this case two rooms were joined and by working with the symmetry of the new room our design has amplified the sense of the space. Elegant curves and judicious use of spot lighting contribute to the effect.
We’ve talked about the benefits of birch in kitchen design in this blog post. This is the wood of choice for our designs and this kitchen showcases the effectiveness of the timber admirably. The wood is particularly good for hand painted cabinets and this kitchen and its cabinets has been finished in a selection of stylish painted colours.
The Right Appliances Are Key to Good Kitchen Design
This kitchen features a range of Neff appliances that were selected on our advice. In addition to be highly functional and top tier quality cookers, extractors and ranges, the Neff appliances are highly stylish and their brushed steel finish where a “glove fit” to our design.
